Local Distilleries

Pitlochry Cheesecake CoWhisky lovers and connoisseurs love visiting Perthshire’s many distilleries, and Pitlochry is lucky enough to have two excellent distilleries right on its doorstep.

If you are a keen whisky drinker or just interested in exploring a bit more about the famous Scotch whiskies that are produced in this beautiful region, then you will not be disappointed by a visit to one of these local distilleries.

Edradour Distillery
This quaint little distillery is world renowned for being the smallest traditional distillery in the whole of Scotland. Dating back to 1825, it is entirely unique and is the last stronghold of handmade single malt whisky from a farm distillery that is still in production today. The whole village of Edradour is steeped in rich history and is well worth a visit if you are in the Pitlochry area. This famous distillery boasts an impressive 25 distinctive expressions of Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky, each with their own individual flavours and characters.

Visitors to Edradour Distillery can experience whisky being made first-hand by the local experts and taste the last single malt whisky produced by hand in Scotland. You can choose a guided tour of the distillery, where a knowledgeable guide will tell tales of Edradour’s impressive history and answer any questions you might have along the way.

Blair Athol Distillery and Visitor Centre
Blair Athol Distillery is proud to be one of the oldest legal whisky making sites in the whole of Scotland after being established in 1798. It features the world’s only true Mash Tun bar, which is a real must see for any whisky lover. Standing just south of Pitlochry, Blair Athol Distillery is an easy walking distance for Pitlochry visitors, and guided tours will take you through the entire whisky-making process. After a tour, guests get the opportunity to try out the distinctive character of the finished product by sipping on a dram of Blair Athol 12-Year-Old.

If you’re heading to Pitlochry to tour the local distilleries, be sure to pop into Hettie’s Tearoom for a bite to eat. Treat yourself to our Famous Afternoon Tea which features all that is wonderful about Hettie’s, including scrumptious cakes, sandwiches, scones and loose leaf tea.
